Shamanic Practices
The Wisdom and Benefits of Shamanic Practics

Honoring Ancient Wisdom – Awakening Modern Awareness
Shamanism is the earliest spiritual practice known to mankind, dating back at least 30 - 50,000 years.
The term shamanism comes from the Manchu-Tungus word šaman.
This is a word whose meaning has to do with esoteric knowledge and extraordinary, spiritual abilities, and as such a shaman is often defined as an intermediary between the human and the spirit, worlds and in some shamanic cultures the word shaman has come to be "One who sees in the dark" or "One who Knows".
Journey Inward
The work I do is to engage with the shamanic journey to awaken to the unseen realms. In the most basic and simplistic words, The 3 worlds. The Upper World to find our helping spirits, the lower world to connect with our power animals and the middle world to see the nature spirits
These journeys can bring profound clarity, emotional release, and a deeper understanding of life’s path., thru direct revelation.
The shamanic journey differs from the quiet stillness of a zen meditation. Shamans are often drumming, rattling, singing and dancing. Both get us to the same place in trance. My approach is a blend of movement and stillness where we can visit the spirit world.

Universal Language
of Spirit
Shamanism is often referred to as “a lineage of direct transmission”. Not only because this school of knowledge is passed down word-of-mouth from generation to generation, without any written account, but also in what we receive in our deep meditation or shamanic journeys.

Words are very tricky things that have the power to either free or enslave the speaker, depending on how much weight is put into their value. However, worry over proper terminology when trying to describe something so universally relevant seems to complicate a fairly straightforward communication.

I find it fascinating that medicine men and women from tribes all over the planet...different corners of the world could know the same healing rites and methods of tapping into the essence of who we truly are as human beings. How we are all interconnected. Trees, rocks, water, fire, the Feathered, the two legged, ,the no legged.... EVERYTHING.

My definition of “shaman” is as follows (and does not reside in any geographic location or tribal origin): A shaman is a benevolent individual who uses altered states of consciousness, whether induced by drum, sacred plant medicine (which I do not do personally), or any other environmental variable, to connect with the spirit world in order assess healing and or to get direct revelation.

This is never about claiming or replicating Indigenous traditions.
My approach is inspired by many universal traditions of healing and reverence, while honoring our ancestors, the Indigenous peoples and wisdom keepers who have protected and carried these sacred ways.

Although I practice some of the ways and respect the path, I do not consider myself a shaman or medicine man nor have called myself one.
Remembering Wholeness
If we can make an assumption that we are from source Energy, Creator, God... what ever name you like. And we have separated from that collective energy to experience this life as an individual. Ultimately, the wisdom with in the shamanic journey reminds us of the the sacred cycles of life, death, and rebirth — within nature, within humanity, and within the soul.
Through these timeless practices, we awaken to our original harmony, the original love, walking once again as conscious co-creators with the Earth, the cosmos and the Creator.
